How Do Jobs and Salaries Work in Lagos Life?

How do you get a job and go to work?

Choose a job in Phone → Jobs, meet its listed requirements, travel into its work city, then start an eligible shift. If you already have a job but cannot work, use the blocked-work checklist before changing careers.

Open your phone, then Jobs
If you have no job, the game directs you to the Jobs app. Browse the available careers and check the city and any entry requirement before applying.
Travel into the city where your job is based
Use the job’s workplace and city to plan travel. The current work gate checks that you are in the same city as the job; being at home in another city can block work.
Check the workday and tap Go to work
The current manual work gate accepts 06:00 to before 22:00 on a scheduled workday, provided you have not already worked that game day and are not travelling, working, jailed or seriously sick. Check your live status and the Jobs auto-work toggle. The current Jobs cards show one-hour shifts; the roster below is separately listed in the public definitions.

Our Lagos Jobs screen showed 21 routes, with six displaying entry skill gates. The public client defines 22 routes, including Oil & Gas outside Lagos. Check your account’s list before planning a career change.

Why can’t you go to work?

The most useful checks are your job status, work city, workday, game time and whether you already completed a shift. Travel, current work, jail or serious sickness can also block work. For automatic work, check Go automatically, your current status and queued actions; follow the live game’s message if its timing differs from the listed roster.

These checks follow the official public work logic [source]. If your current game shows a different message, follow it; account-specific or server-side restrictions have not been tested here. You can describe the message in the comments without posting account or payment details.

When can you work, and how do promotions work?

Current Jobs cards describe one-hour shifts, any time. The public definitions and Career panel also list longer roster windows, so do not read those windows as the observed shift length. Manual eligibility and automatic starting behavior differ; promotion requires both performance and the next skill threshold.

Automatic work: our Jobs screen had Go automatically enabled. Applying to Trading immediately started a shift with a return time one hour later, even though Apply said “start tomorrow.” Check whether your Sim is already working after applying; the label did not match this session’s behavior. You can change the toggle in Jobs. We have not tested this behavior across all accounts or workdays. Logged-in observation [source]

Manual work: “Go to work” uses the eligibility rules above. After our early exit, Career showed “You've worked today.” A partial shift can therefore consume the day’s work opportunity. The public manual gate checks 06:00–21:59; follow the actual message if the live version changes. We did not separately test every manual-work boundary.

Promotion: the public implementation checks for performance of at least 100 and the required career-skill level when settling a shift. The first 15 routes use promotion thresholds 1, 3, 5 and 7; the seven skill-gated routes use 4, 5, 7 and 9. The cards below show the right sequence for each route. Promotion changes future base pay; it does not make earlier work pay the new rate.

The observed Trading shift started around 10:43 and displayed a return time of 11:43. Career still listed 7:00 AM–4:00 PM. We left early, so this verifies the displayed one-hour schedule and partial settlement, not a completed full shift.

Which careers and salary ranks are defined in Lagos Life?

The current public client defines 22 career routes with five salary ranks each. This is a reference to the definitions, not a promise that all 22 routes appear in your account. Your current Jobs app determines what you can actually apply for.
